Hi! I'm Delilah! Are you my 'pawfect match'? I've been with my foster family since December 2016 - they are really cool but I really need my own family...I'm probably a lab mix and I'm a good medium size dog -- I went through a lot in the beginning of my life but I'm doing great now! The vet & foster mom say I developed a little slower than a typical dog, but I don't let it stop me (and I'm not sure they know what they are talking about). I run and play at my foster mommy's house and love exploring the back yard. My best friend is a big dog who lets me run into him and knock him down and let him do the same!...I have been a little selective of my canine friends but lately most of my fellow foster puppy siblings have been fun to hang out with. If you have another dog, we'd just have to see how we get along. My back legs are sometimes a bit off balance (see background below) but it doesn't prohibit me from walking or running! I jump on & off my foster mommy's deck like an Olympian! I also have a little grunt noise that I do - foster mommy says maybe I'm part PIG! (there's nothing wrong with me that I grunt - I just do!) I love treats and food and any toy my foster mommy gives me - wait...let me emphasize - I LOVE toys! Stuffed toys, bones, Kongs....I like to run around the house and yard with a toy in my mouth and pose for my picture with it. I am house trained but definitely need a schedule because I'm still young and joining a new family will be an adjustment! Foster mom wants a home for me with a fenced yard - she says I march to the beat of my own drum (whatever that means as I don't think we have any drums) and need to explore and not always have to be confined to a leash...My pawfect match is out there - my foster mommy says so - is it you?
Background: Delilah & her littermates came to us from a rural county shelter. Delilah had an obvious issue with her head as it was oddly shaped when she arrived so she was taken to the vet where x-rays & ultrasound were completed - it appeared she had a fluid pocket & a small skull fracture - the cause is unknown - the fluid was drained & her head returned to normal shape. There was initial concern that Delilah might have impairments including a vision impairment - however, she's been in her foster home over a year and any deficit seems to be minor - she has never run into things and maneuvers all over the house and when we are out and about in new places. She is such a good dog who is a little goofy, always hungry and playful. She is just a bit atypical - her legs and gait are a bit off - but trust me, it doesn't slow her down - she is not going to be a running buddy for hiking any major trails - but, she does like to run and play as well as chill with toys or a bone on the couch - she's a special girl who deserves a special family!
