Are you ready for this little bundle? Emmi is an expressive girl, and very loyal to her people. She seeks to be someone's constant lap dog. How did she come to the rescue? Emmi and her two babies were rescued from a house fire. She has now weaned her babies, been spayed, and is ready for her forever home. How is her health? Emmi is healthy, active, and happy. She just had a routine dental cleaning and is ready to give you tons of kisses! She is heartworm negative and receives preventative flea and heartworm treatment monthly. How is Emmi with people? Emmi **loves** her people but can be shy/scared at first, especially with men. But she bonds quickly and will want to be a permanent fixture on your lap. She will throw her heavy head on your lap and give this big sigh when happy, which is the sweetest. How does she do with children? Emmi loves kids but can be aloof until she gets to know them and decides that they are her kids. She has done well with small children, but like any dog, should always be supervised with young kids. How does she handle being alone? Emmi loves people so much that she does have some anxiety in being alone. She must be kept in a crate when not supervised and may whine at first in having her freedom reduced. When left to roam the house freely, she can be destructive as she is upset at being alone. Where does she sleep at night? At night, Emmi sleeps in a crate with plenty of snuggly blankets, water, and usually a night time treat. We do this so that she gets used to the consistency. However, she would also love to sleep on your bed and is a quiet -and warm- companion all night. How does she get along with other dogs? cats? Emmi does love to play with other dogs, but at times she can be dog selective. She likes to be the primary point of attention with her foster mom and has been known to snap and growl at other dogs when protecting 'lap time'. When she does this, she gets put in in 'time out' to learn that such behavior isn't acceptable. When done consistently, Emmi has settled into her foster home with 5 other dogs. Emmi doesn't have a strong prey drive and does not chase her foster mom's two cats. However, if a cat decides to be very vocal and fuss, she may give chase. Is she house trained? Yes, but she is also extremely smart. If you are not consistent with Emmi, she will make a mess inside. What else should I know?
