Itzal is a mellow fella of about one year of age (10/14/2010). His name means 'shadow' as he liked staying in the shadows when he first arrived. Itzal and his sister Runa were found in a ditch at the side of a road. Itzal has come out of his shell greatly and is comfortable with other people, but he's not an "all-over-you" type of greeter. He loves lap time and getting rubbed and hugged. He is crate-trained, leash-trained and house-trained in his foster home. He has started obedience training and does "sit" and "down" with a small treat. He loves to carry stuff around - especially soft toys and he has a few special balls that he likes to chase after when it's yard play time. He is good with other dogs/puppies and would do well with a female canine companion, though out and about he thinks he can be a bit bossy, so needs a controlled introduction to a new friend. He likes watching the cats very closely and when possible steal their toys. He's been neutered, dewormed, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you are interested in 2 dogs, Itzal and Runa have bonded quite well and now both have had hip-displasia surgery - they are a pair in so many ways! They can be adopted separately.
